Teachers Becoming Writers

If we educators are to communicate powerfully to the wider world, we need more and more teachers becoming writers — thoughtful writers. Read Steve Moore’s essay on how he as a teacher took this journey. And notice how writing in his blog helped him become a better teacher, gained support from other teachers, and even led to new job possibilities. Readers, let’s help as many other teachers as possible find the commitment and the confidence to do this.

So what do you see as the possibilities and obstacles for doing this (and don’t just mention TIME unless you have some suggestions for dealing with it, because we all know about that one)?

Another benefit is to reach the students via our writing. I also became an education blogger in part because I wasnted another venue to share tips and information for success with my students. I’ve found that even those who are less inclined to read a helpful email or classroom document will often read a blog post.
