Preview My Writing Project Urban Sites Conference Talk
For the National Writing Project web-based radio program on Thurs. Mar. 14 I had the privilege to preview my Writing Project Urban Sites conference talk. It essentially outlines the position taken by this website, that teachers need to tell their stories to the public. My 15 minutes comes at the end of the one-hour program. Here’s the link if you’d like to listen in. (I hate the dorky sound of my voice, but I think I said what I needed to say.)
The conference takes place April 25-27 in Birmingham, with the theme, “Writers of Social Justice: How One Pen Can Change the World” — especially appropriate for this year’s 50th anniversary of King’s “Letter From a Birmingham Jail” and the church bombing that took place that same year. If you’re a teacher who can get away from the classroom for a day, this will be a memorable event.
As for the pen that can change the world: each of us must think of it as our own.
First of all, your voice is not dorky, and your message is wonderful! I will be at the same conference sharing the work of our digital writers. I hope we get to connect at the conference!
