Digital Learning Day Focused a Light on Great Teachers

I owe big apologies to Janet Ilko and to the people at Digital Learning Day and it’s key sponsor, the Alliance for Excellent Education. I ragged on Janet to share her teaching more widely, not realizing just how much press coverage she and the DLDay were receiving. Digital Learning Day focused a light on great teachers. and here’s Janet, talking on the NWP Community blog about the experience of sharing her work in front of an audience of TV cameras, reporters, politicians and business execs. Thanks, Janet!

And here’s the link to one of the TV news spots about the day and a classroom in Alexandria, VA where meaningful student use of technology is happening.

Finally, though, here’s a well-meaning Congressman, George Miller, proposing a bill that totally misses the point by focusing not on students learning through tech, but teachers assessing them. Oh, well. The Republican House of Representatives won’t support the bill anyway.
